They promoted fake Hajj campaigns and promoted advertisements for Hajj on behalf of others for the purpose of fraud in Riyadh and Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
Riyadh police announced that 7 Pakistani expatriate residents had been arrested for violating residency and work regulations by promoting the transport of pilgrims in private vehicles to the Holy Capital for the purpose of fraud.
Police in Riyadh have also arrested an Egyptian resident who operated an unlicensed website in a neighborhood that promoted fake Hajj campaigns, and all the violators have been arrested and referred to the Public Prosecutor for legal action.
In addition, Makkah police also announced the arrest of 7 people for announcing through social media platforms and websites that they plan on performing Hajj on behalf of others.
- The Public Security Directorate clarified that those arrested announced the performance of Hajj on behalf of others and provided transportation to holy sites, hotels, and sacrifices to pilgrims in order to commit fraud.
The authorities state that those concerned were residents of Bangladeshi nationality, 4 residents of Malian, Afghani, Myanmar and Egyptian nationalities, and a citizen, all of them were arrested, legal steps were taken against them, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution.
