In a statement released yesterday, the Saudi Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) stated that female students will not be allowed to wear abayas during exams.
As part of the ETEC's guidelines, female students are required to wear school uniforms when inside exams halls, adding that the uniform should comply with effective regulations as well as adhere to public decency.
In coordination with the Ministry of Education, ETEC, formerly known as the Education Evaluation Authority, is responsible for planning, evaluating, assessing, and accrediting educational and training systems in Saudi Arabia.
Established in 2017 following Council of Ministers' decree No. 120. ETEC is an independent governmental entity both legally and financially that reports directly to the prime minister.
