All Expat Worker Fees Must Be Paid By The Employer - MHRSD
Category: Expats

Expatriate workers in Saudi Arabia are subject to fees set by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD).

After the expat worker's employment contract ends with the employer, he will receive a return ticket to his home country.

The Ministry explained that Article 40 of the Saudi Labor Law states that the employer is responsible for expat worker's residence (iqama) and work permit fees, including renewals and fines.

In addition, the MHRSD highlighted that the employer is also responsible for recruiting workers, changing their professions, and obtaining exit re-entry visas.

In accordance with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, employers are required to pay the fees associated with bringing expat workers from their countries, including accommodations, Iqama fees, work permit fees, Iqama and work permit renewal fees, changes of profession fees, exit reentry visa fees, and return tickets for workers who leave the country after the end of their employment.

Earlier this month, the ministry clarified that the new employer must pay the iqama and work permit fee, including the job transfer fee, if the service of an expat worker is transferred to another employer.
