As part of the weekly session, chaired by King Salman, the Council of Ministers in Saudi Arabia announced the formation of long-term and short-term educational visas.
Students, researchers, and experts will be able to apply for the new long-term educational visa for academic study and research.
Among those eligible are students, researchers and visiting trainees who wish to study or train in a foreign language, participate in short courses, or exchange students with foreign schools.
In accordance with Council's decision, educational visa holders are not required to provide a sponsor.
The Ministry of Education clarified that the objective of the educational visa is to attract distinguished talent, raise the quality of the educational process, enhance research and innovation, and make Saudi Arabia an attractive education destination.
This new educational visa aims to improve the quality and efficiency of Saudi educational institutions worldwide, as well as spreading the values of moderation and teaching Arabic.
- According to the Ministry, the visa attracts male and female researchers, university students, as well as international professors and academics. Specifically, it is divided into two types of visas: a short-term visa for a period of one academic year, and a long-term visa for a period of time.
As the Ministry of Education pointed out, the visa serves students from 160 countries, records data in 9 languages, links applications to relevant authorities, as well as easing the procedures for joining studies in Saudi Arabia and does not require a sponsor for international students.
