A sponsor's approval is required for foreign residents in Saudi Arabia to obtain a diving license, Okaz/Saudi Gazette has learned from MEWA sources.

To apply for a diving license from the ministry, you must also hold a diving license from one of the diving training centers.

If you are applying for a diving license, you must submit a copy of your diving license from the center, as well as a national ID or a valid residency permit (iqama).

Applicants must complete the application form and attach a medical checkup certificate, according to ministry sources.

Licenses for diving training centers were also announced by the ministry. An application is required along with a copy of the national identity card, a title deed or a lease contract for the site, and a municipal license (baladiya).

Also required are a certified diving instructor license, a commercial register, and a letter to the Border Guards seeking approval to open the center.

For obtaining a diving training center license, a technical fitness report, which includes an examination of the safety equipment and training equipment at the center, must also be submitted.
