Travelers to and from Saudi Arabia are required to declare any belongings of money or financial value exceeding the permissible limit, according to the Saudi Public Prosecution.
Every person leaving or entering Saudi Arabia with a value of 60,000 riyals or more, as well as those who arrange to transfer these values outside or inside, must present an acknowledgement to the competent authority at the Kingdom's crossing points.
Anyone entering or leaving the Kingdom who is in possession of coins, bearer negotiable instruments, gold bars, precious metals, gemstones or worked jewelry with a value of 60,000 riyals or above, or the equivalent of these amounts in foreign currencies, is required to provide an acknowledgment.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs authority may ask the person for more information about its source or use.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs authority of Saudi Arabia may control currency, bearer negotiable instruments, gold bullion, precious metals, gemstones, crafted jewelry, if there is a suspicion that they are proceeds or means of money laundering. A non-acknowledgement or false declaration in accordance with the regulations and amounts that do not reach the declaration specified in the specification.
