With the new academic year kicking off today (Sunday), over 33,500 schools across Saudi Arabia are welcoming over 5 million students.
During the new academic year, Saudi Arabia will allow foreign-born children living illegally in the kingdom to enroll in schools.
Schools should provide admission forms to parents of children living illegally in the Kingdom, and instruct them to contact the regional offices where their children reside to complete the required procedures.
Due to their violation of the Ministry's health requirements, soft drinks are not allowed inside schools.
Ibtesam Al Shehri, the ministry's spokesperson, told Al Ekhbarya TV that the ministry has set health standards for nutrition services offered to students at schools.

The ministry will also monitor school canteens to make sure they don't sell soft drinks and adhere to the school's food choices.
According to the spokesperson, the ministry has directed the education departments to open up food services to private competition.
