Indian mission in Saudi Arabia welcomes Riyadh's decision to exempt Indian nationals from submitting a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) to obtain a visa.
Our Embassy welcomes this announcement and thanks the Saudi government for exempting Indian nationals from submitting Police Clearance Certificates (PCCs). Over 2 million Indians live in Saudi Arabia, so this will provide much needed relief," the Indian mission in the country tweeted.
Exemption
In an effort to strengthen relations between the two countries, Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday that it would exempt Indian nationals from submitting a PCC.
Due to the strong relationship and strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and India, the Kingdom has decided to exempt Indian nationals from submitting a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC).
During the announcement, the Saudi embassy thanked the over two million Indians living in the country for their contributions.
Stronger India-Saudi relations
Indian citizens will no longer need to obtain a visa to travel to Saudi Arabia under the PCC. As part of the two countries' efforts to further strengthen their relations, this decision has been taken. According to the Embassy, over two million Indian citizens live peacefully in the Kingdom and make a significant contribution."
In recent years, India-Saudi Arabia relations have strengthened in a number of areas, including political, security, energy, trade, investment, health, food security, cultural, and defence.
Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, top leaders of both countries remained in close contact.
Earlier in September, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited Saudi Arabia and reviewed all aspects of India-Saudi Arabia bilateral relations.
During Jaishankar's visit, several areas were identified for enhancing bilateral cooperation, such as food security, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and the defence industry.
