Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) launched the Cybercrimes and Digital Forensics Forum on Tuesday. The event, which ends on Nov. 21, seeks to keep pace with scientific and technological developments, the spread of daily digital transaction, the increasing use of computers and internet and the emergence of modern criminal methods.
Dr. Abdulmajeed bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan welcomed the participants, noting that “cybercrimes are one of the most dangerous threats to security forces. This led the university to give it a great importance in the objectives of its 2019-2023 strategic plan.
“NAUSS had also launched several initiatives aimed at fighting cybercrimes including the establishment of digital forensics labs supplied with the latest technical equipment,” he added.
“The university will soon offer a diploma and a master’s degree in cybercrimes and digital forensics and promote its relationships with the relevant international organizations,” he noted, pointing out that “NAUSS has signed a significant agreement with the UN Office on Drugs and Crimes to benefit from its training and consultative experiences in the field. It also has a close relation with international organizations, notably Interpol and the International Communication Union, that choose NAUSS as a center of excellence in the fields of cybersecurity and internet of things.
“NAUSS also worked to put together the Arab Scientific Working Group for Digital Forensics, composed of Arab and international experts. The group is currently preparing the guidelines for digital forensics aimed at maintaining reliability and credibility of digital forensics through their collection, analyzing and presentation before the courts.”
Al-Bunyan thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for financial and moral support provided by the state to the organization, noting that “the university’s achievements would not have been possible if it was not for the support and constant follow up of Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, the minister of interior and his fellow Arab ministers of interior.”
