Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Passports announced that as of May 26, a total of 532,958 pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom to perform Hajj.
Modes of Arrival:
. Air Travel: 523,729 pilgrims arrived by air.
. Land Borders: 9,210 crossed through land borders.
. Sea Travel: 19 pilgrims arrived by sea.
Efforts to Ensure Smooth Arrival:
. The General Directorate of Passports is committed to facilitating a seamless arrival experience for all pilgrims.
. The General Authority for Care and Management of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has utilized all human and technical resources to provide top-notch services for worshippers.
Facilities at the Grand Mosque:
. 897 male and female employees are stationed at 89 gates to welcome and guide pilgrims.
. An additional 15 gates are opened on Fridays for the weekly congregational noon prayers.
. Specific gates are allocated for different purposes: three for Umrah pilgrims, 50 for prayer worshippers, 20 emergency gates, and 16 indoor gates.
. Worshippers are guided to prayer places and alternate areas when capacities are reached to ensure smooth movement.
Welcoming Gestures:
. Worshippers are scented with perfumes upon arrival.
. Gates are clearly numbered and named for easy access.
. Supervisors enforce rules against bringing luggage and food into the mosque, maintaining cleanliness and order.
