About 50 percent of Saudis believe that the TV serials aired during Ramadan do not reflect the reality of social life in the Kingdom, according to the results of the Public Opinion Polls Unit at King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue.

The results of the survey, published by Al-Watan newspaper, showed that 16 percent of Saudis believed the serials reflected reality in Saudi society while 34 percent said they do not watch TV serials.

The sample consisted of 1,200 Saudis, of whom 64 percent male and 36 percent female aged 45 years old and above. Phone interviews were used as the basic method for conducting the poll.

The poll demonstrated King Abdulaziz Center’s keenness to measure social trends and opinions regarding certain social issues such as Ramadan TV serials. The participants were asked to give their opinion about the issues that the serials shed light on and to find out if they truly portrayed the local life and the cultural and economic conditions of the people.
