Rana is a real trailblazer, becoming the first ballet instructor in Saudi Arabia.
The ambitious Saudi woman started training on ballet dancing in Riyadh since she was eight years old.
She is considered one of the very few Saudi ballet practitioners. Her career skyrocketed after moving from the Saudi capital to the City of Jeddah where she joined Jeddah Ballet Academy which was opened by California-born Mary Francis.
She started a ballet instructor course there, while offering ballet classes to children with Down syndrome in a bid as part of her graduation project
Rana considers herself lucky, being supported by her family, in a country where it is unusual and a challenge to be a ballet dancer. She pins a lot of hope on the 2030 vision, which was launched by the Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Defence Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
Her biggest challenge is finding a proper Islamic dress to practice ballet for Hijab, like many veiled female dancers in other parts of the world.
