The Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan, received a report from the Ministry’s Labor Representation Office at the Egyptian Consulate in Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia within the framework of following up on the conditions of Egyptian workers in the countries of work through the operations room established in the labor representation offices abroad, to answer any inquiries, and provide support and assistance to them At any time, especially in this critical period after the spread of the “Corona” virus, to preserve the rights of Egyptian workers in the country of work, which may be affected by some measures taken by some countries in this regard.
Haitham Saad Eddin, the official spokesman and media advisor to the Ministry of Manpower, explained that the report that the minister received from the Labor Representation Office in Riyadh includes a number of decisions approved by the Council of Ministers in the Kingdom, including renewing the work permit every 3 months in order to allow the employer who wants a worker for a period of 3 or 6 months Here, he is not required to renew the residency for a full year, but rather he has the right to renew it according to his need – in a manner that does not conflict with the work contract.
The Labor Attaché, Ahmed Rajaei, head of the Labor Representation Office in Riyadh, said that the Council of Ministers in the Kingdom approved a number of important decisions related to expatriate workers, the most important of which is the renewal of the work permit, whose value is 9600 riyals, and it can be renewed quarterly, i.e. paying 2,400 riyals, in order to reduce the burden on employers. Especially those who face default in payment, and also to provide more opportunity and flexibility for enterprises
