A recent ruling by a Mecca court in Saudi Arabia has resulted in the imprisonment of an Arab expatriate for one year, coupled with a fine of unspecified amount, for falsifying his academic credentials.

This verdict was reached following the referral of the suspect to the court by the Public Prosecution, where he was found guilty of forging a university degree in engineering.

Investigations revealed that the individual had falsified a civil engineering degree certificate in order to secure a professional license within the kingdom.

Upon completion of his jail term, the convict will be subject to deportation.
