Saudi Government Will Set Fees A Year In Advance For Private Schools
Category: Education

Saudi newspapers have reported that private schools are required to set their fees one year before the academic year when they take effect.

School fees and implementation schedules must be registered on a portal linked to the Ministry of Education one year before the academic year, Okaz noted. There will be no validity to any amendment that follows.

In accordance with Saudi Education Minister Youssef Al Benyan's regulations, school fees cannot be increased during the academic year.

The Ministry of Education will post a list of school fees on its website. In the event of a dispute, the list will serve as a reference.

In order to revise regulations regarding fees charged by private schools, the Ministry of Education will form a committee.

According to the report, the panel will examine private schools' commitment to fee registration and review related regulations every two years for potential changes that are in line with the common good.

Any change to fees will also be announced at least one year before the start of the academic year by private schools.

An annual report will be submitted to the minister by the committee detailing the yearly change in school fees, its justifications, and recommendations to address the issue.

A majority vote is required for decisions to be made by the panel.
