Public utilities are available to everyone, and represent high urban renaissance and pioneering national projects in Saudi Arabia, the Public Prosecution announced, adding that penalties would be imposed for intentionally destroying, cutting or disabling them.
In this regard, the Public Prosecution stated on its official Twitter account, it is unlawful to intentionally damage any extension or facility of a public utility, or to cut it or disrupt it, regardless of whether it is the original perpetrator or a partner. Criminal liability is determined in this regard.
Prosecutors said anyone who commits these acts will be punished with imprisonment for up to 2 years and a fine of up to 100,000 riyals.
Additionally, all damages caused to the facility or third parties are compensated, including the costs of repairing the damage caused or compensation for the benefits lost by the facility or third parties. The verdict will be published at the expense of the offender.
