The Saudi Central Bank Warns Against Interfering With Messages Claiming To Suspend Bank Accounts Or Requesting Account Updates

Saudi Arabian Central Bank (SAMA) warned against responding to messages that claim to suspend your bank accounts or request bank data updates.

Through its official Twitter account, the Saudi Central Bank urged its customers not to interact with these messages or calls, and to instead communicate with the bank only through its official channels.

Saudi nationals and expatriates living abroad are warned against dealing with unlicensed forex firms by the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia.

Despite the tempting advertisements of unlicensed forex parties, especially on social media platforms, the Saudi Central Bank advises not to be enticed by them.

- Fraudulent methods include publishing fabricated videos on social media that appear as news bulletins broadcasting official news, as well as opening new investment channels for citizens and residents and inviting them to register their names and data, in order to deceive them by transferring money to them.

In addition, it includes fake e-platforms and phone calls impersonating government departments such as Public Investment Fund, Saudi Vision 2030, and well-known companies like Saudi Electricity Company, National Water Company, Aramco company, etc. They deceive victims into believing that they are affiliated with these departments in order to gain their trust and lure them into profitable opportunities, such as foreign currency trading.

Also, scammers create fake online platforms impersonating names and brands and market through social media.

Saudi Arabia's Public Security Department renewed its warning against fraudsters earlier this week, warning that they use innovative methods to entrap their victims.

Saudi Public Security tweeted, scammers can use many innovative methods to inflict victims, stating that the person is responsible for his data.

Public Security added that there are no free prizes in an awareness message, stressing the importance of data protection and countering cybercrime.
