As reported by Okaz/Saudi Gazette, the Ministry of Justice has confirmed that labor courts and departments in various regions of the Kingdom have issued around 168,000 judgments since the courts began operating in November 2018.
There were more than 60,000 judgments related to wages, representing 35 percent of all judgments.
In 2021, the courts and labor departments pronounced more than 63,000 judgments, while in 2022, more than 20,000 judgments were issued.
Furthermore, the courts received cases relating to claims of bonus, compensation, and allowances in addition to cases related to terminations of the labor relationship by the employer, by the employee, and by domestic service committees.
The labor courts are competent bodies for considering cases related to the Labor Law, including disputes related to work contracts, wages, rights, and work injuries and compensation for them.
This is in addition to disputes regarding disciplinary penalties imposed by the employer or requests for exemption from the penalties.
In addition to cases filed for the imposition of penalties stipulated by the Labor Law, there were also disputes arising from the application of the Labor Law and Social Insurance Law.
