This Is The Last And Third Year For Small Companies To Be Exempt From The Expat Levy
Category: Expats

It is now the last and third year of exempting small companies from paying the monthly expat levy. During the period of April 2020 to March 2023, small enterprises will not be liable for paying the expat levy.

The decision exempted labor fees from work permits of 800 riyals per month or 9,600 riyals per year to be reduced to 100 riyals only, through an online portal of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

- In the decision, it is also stated that workers will be exempt from fees in small companies with 9 or fewer employees, with the employer working full-time, and raising the number of exempted workers to four when hiring another Saudi citizen.

There are about 576,312 establishments with 9 or fewer employees, according to a report. With its decision, the Ministry sought to provide further flexibility in managing the contractual relationship between an employer and an expat.

- The Human Resources Ministry aims to improve the management of financial flows with private companies and schedule their payments.
