A Pakistani woman in her 50s died and 24 pilgrims, who were mostly Pakistanis, were injured in a road accident on Makkah-Al-Jumom Road on Sunday. Makkah Health Affairs Emergencies Director Dr. Hattan Boujan said the accident occurred due to the collision of two buses carrying pilgrims of different nationalities.

“Ten of the injured pilgrims were transported to Hiraa Public Hospital, eight were rushed to King Abdulaziz Hospital and six were treated on the spot,” said Boujan.

Mohammad Numan, a 33-year-old Pakistani pilgrim, lost his mother in the accident.

; “My mother and I were on a bus with other pilgrims from Pakistan. Our driver fell asleep on the wheel and crashed into another bus,” said Numan. Azaa Amjad, a 38-year-old woman, said she broke her left arm her head sustained bruises.

She was transported to the hospital for further medical procedures. She praised the Kingdom for its health services and the good behavior of the medical staff.

; Makkah Red Crescent spokesman Abdulaziz Baduman said the Red Crescent deployed seven emergency rescue teams and two advanced intervention groups.

The accident took place near the Bashraheel traffic light. One bus driver hit the brakes at the traffic light and the bus behind it crashed into it veering off track and hitting four other vehicles, said Baduman.
