On Friday, eight Saudis, including seven members of a family and a Filipino maid, were killed in a horrific head-on collision in Wadi Dawasir governorate in the Riyadh region.
After the collision, one of the vehicles caught fire and the passengers were charred to death. A GMC model vehicle was carrying eight members of a family and their domestic worker. As a result of the collision with another vehicle on the Al-Rain - Wadi Al-Dawasir Road, the vehicle caught fire and all seven family members and the housemaid died.
Among the deceased were the father, mother, and five sons and daughters, who were traveling from Abha to Riyadh to spend their weekend. The Saudi family's lone survivor was a 13-year-old girl. The girl, who was traveling with other family members in the GMC, miraculously survived the accident. Wadi Al-Dawasir General Hospital and Rania General Hospital treated the injured.
The Traffic Department and Civil Defense in Wadi Al-Dawasir governorate handled the tragic accident, according to sources. Six ambulance teams were rushed to the scene immediately after the Saudi Red Crescent Authority's command and control room in Riyadh received information about the accident from a citizen.
According to social media users, the single-line Al-Rain - Wadi Al-Dawasir Road has seen frequent accidents that have resulted in the loss of many lives, due to the heavy traffic. In addition to doubling the road, they called for reorganizing traffic.
