A fire swept through a house in northern Saudi Arabia, killing seven people, including six children.
On Tuesday, civil defence teams managed to put out a fire that had erupted in a one-floor house in the district of Al Tasheelat in Al Qurayyat governorate.
According to Captain Abdulrahman Abdulaziz, spokesman for the civil defence service, four bodies were discovered in the house.
Four other residents were in critical condition in the hospital. After the fire, three of them died from wounds and suffocation.
An initial inspection revealed that the fire started in a bedroom on the ground floor of the house where bodies of children were found,” the official said.
Smoke detectors should be installed inside houses, he said, as they detect fires before they worsen and cause casualties.
In addition, he did not give a breakdown of the victims or the cause of the fire.
According to Saudi news portal Akhbaar24, the dead were the father and six children, including four sons and two daughters.
Currently, their mother is in critical condition at Al Qurayyat Public Hospital.
According to the report, an oil heater inside the children's room started the fire.
