In Saudi Arabia, a five-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool on the first day of the Muslim holiday Eid Al Fitr, her family said.
After finding out that the child had drowned Monday evening in the pool inside a rest house in the Al Majarda governorate in the Asir region in south-western Saudi Arabia, the family's joy turned into grief, reported news portal Sabq.
When the family was celebrating Eid Al Fitr at one of the rest houses, our daughter Ward drowned in the pool. “We won't object to Allah's will,” he said.
Further details about the circumstances of the child's drowning were not provided by the father.
Ward, whose name means "roses" in Arabic, was buried on Tuesday after a special death prayer was led for her at a local mosque.
As part of the relaxation of restrictions imposed earlier due to COVID-19, Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, began in Saudi Arabia on Monday.
