The Health Ministry announced regulatory changes to issuing licenses for private health facilities, including hospitals, medical complexes, support centers and laboratories.
The announcement came during the Global Health Exhibition 2019 in Riyadh, which started on Tuesday and will continue for two more days.
Muhammad Al-Eid, the ministry’s assistant director general for licenses, said the amendments will result in more investment opportunities, better services and greater transparency.
“Today, the procedure to obtain a license from the ministry is reduced, and some of the things that were required before don’t exist anymore. Now there’s integration between the ministry and other entities,” he added.
“Instead of having only physical therapy centers, now investors can combine more than one specialty — such as physical, functional, nutrition and psychotherapy — all in one place.”
The ministry will encourage investments by improving market attractiveness, Al-Eid said.
Nine conferences and six workshops are being held at the exhibition. Some 180 medical companies will participate, and there will be 10,000 attendees.
The exhibition “aims to build relationships and joint cooperation among health experts to contribute to facilitating and offering best practices that can develop the health care systems in the Kingdom in such a manner that meets the needs of patients and residents,” the ministry said.
The event highlights the latest developments in health services, pharmaceuticals, training, education and medical technologies.
