In Jeddah, A Driver Hits A Pedestrian And Plunges Into The Sea
Category: Accidents

Saudi media report that a motorist survived a car-plunge into the sea after hitting a pedestrian in the Saudi port city of Jeddah.

Okaz newspaper reported that the woman lost control of her car on the Jeddah Corniche road, hit a pedestrian and dived into the sea.

In order to increase the speed of the car, the driver pressed the accelerator rather than the brakes, news portal Sabq reported.

Both the woman and pedestrian who were hit were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Together with the coastguard, the traffic authorities hauled up the car.

The motorist and pedestrian were both reported to be in good health.

Women were allowed to drive for the first time in Saudi Arabia's history in 2018, ending decades-old restrictions.
