Passport validity is a condition for renewing a resident identity (iqama) for expat workers in Saudi Arabia, according to the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat).
During an interaction on Jawazat's official Twitter account, one of the users asked, "Can I renew my iqama if my passport expires
According to Saudi Jawazat, the instructions require a valid passport for expatriate workers to renew their iqama or resident identity.
In Saudi Arabia, the passports department announced earlier this month that expat workers can renew their iqama for a period of minimum 3 months or 6 months.
Jawazat responded to a question on Twitter, asking, "Is it possible to renew iqama for a period of 3 or 6 months for dependents
According to the Saudi passports department, a resident's iqama can be renewed quarterly by their employer, along with their dependents after paying the necessary fee.
