General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has denied rumors that went viral, claiming the authorities converted visit visas into Iqama (residency permits).
According to Jawazat, this clarification was made in response to inquiries about a post circulated on social media platforms claiming that the Ministry of Interior approved the conversion of a visit visa into an Iqama.
As well as defrauding people, the fake posts revealed to them how to convert a visit visa to a residency permit.
According to the Jawazat, conversion of a visit visa into an Iqama is not permitted by the ministry's instructions.
According to the Jawazat, it is possible to convert a visit visa into an Iqama for children who are under 18 years of age, provided that only their parents possess an Iqama.
