A major fire broke out in a vegetable market with dozens of shops in the city of Sakaka, in Al-Jouf, northwest SaudiWednesday evening, before the civil defense teams managed to put it out.
Pictures and videos from the market’s site showed flames rising from dozens of stores, while workers in the market supported civil defense teams in removing cars from the massive fire site.
The Saudi Civil Defense said, via “Twitter”, that its teams succeeded in extinguishing the fire, which spanned an area of approximately 850 square meters, without any injuries.
The Emirate of Al-Jouf Region issued a statement after putting out the fire, in which it said that the fire started from one of the stores in the southern side of the market, before it extended to other stores, which necessitated the use of civil defense teams besides supporting water tanks belonging to the region’s secretariat.
The statement added that the damage caused by the fire that had hit the southern part of the market has been completely counted, and an investigation is under way to find out the reasons for its outbreak.
And local media said, 42 vegetable stores were completely burned by strong fire.
