In a bid to enforce compliance with expatriate employment regulations, the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia has outlined penalties for companies engaging in actions such as hiring expatriates who violate rules, sending workers to work for other entities, or hiring others' workers.
Penalties for Companies Employing Violating Expatriates:
The Passports Directorate has stipulated the following penalties that a company could face for employing expatriates involved in rule violations:
1. Ban from Hiring: Companies may face a ban on hiring for a period of up to five years.
2. Financial Fine: A monetary penalty of up to 100,000 riyals could be imposed.
3. Legal Consequences: The responsible director may be subject to imprisonment for up to a year and deportation to their home country if they are an expatriate.
4. Defamation: Companies may face defamation as part of the punitive measures.
The Saudi Jawazat emphasizes that individuals violating residency, work, and border security policies should not be employed, housed, transported, or provided cover within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
