According to a local news portal, one person died and another was hospitalized after being trapped by floods in Saudi Arabia.
One dead body was retrieved from a flooded wadi (valley) in Al Majaridah governorate in Asir region of south-western Saudi Arabia, Akhbar24.com reported. It was not disclosed what the latter's health condition was.
There have been heavy rains in several areas of Saudi Arabia in recent weeks.
The education authorities in Jeddah in western Saudi Arabia suspended classes on Monday due to bad weather.
Earlier this month, torrential rains caused flash floods in Jeddah, closing schools, delaying flights, hampering traffic, and stranding cars, reviving memories of 2009's devastating flooding.
Saudi Arabian traffic authorities have warned motorists repeatedly not to drive through overflowing valleys, threatening them with fines of up to SR10,000.
Vetting valleys is regarded as a traffic infringement that puts citizens' lives in danger,” the General Department of Traffic said.
According to the department, fines range from SR5,000 to SR10,000 for the offence.
