King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah has issued important advice for travellers regarding prohibited baggage to ensure smooth travel procedures. In a recent infographic shared on its Twitter account, the airport has highlighted certain types of baggage that are not allowed, in order to streamline the travel process.
To avoid any inconvenience, the airport has specified that round, untidy, or cloth-wrapped baggage, as well as bags tied with ropes, are not permitted. Additionally, bags with long straps, cloth carriers, and irregularly weighted items are also considered unauthorised baggage.
In order to further facilitate travel procedures, the airport management has recommended that passengers ensure their luggage adheres to the weight allowance specified on their ticket. It is also advised to obtain electronic boarding passes prior to arriving at the airport and to carry their passport or identity card. Passengers are also encouraged to arrive at the airport at least two hours in advance for domestic flights and three hours for international flights.
King Abdulaziz International Airport, which officially opened in April 1981, is the most significant airport in Saudi Arabia, serving as the primary hub and operations center for Saudi Arabian Airlines. The airport also serves as the gateway to Mecca, allowing pilgrims and Umrah performers to access the Grand Mosque in Mecca. With the Pilgrims Hall, the world's fourth-largest passenger terminal, covering an area of 465,000 m2, the airport has become one of the largest globally, having commenced operations for domestic flights in 2019.
