The Public Prosecution in Saudi Arabia has clarified the penalties imposed by the law against those who intentionally circulate food that is harmful for health, adulterated or prohibited.
The prosecution said the penalties for such acts includes below as per the Food Law :
1. Jail term of up to 10 years.
2. A fine not less than 1 million Saudi riyals and not more than 10 million riyals or both jail term and penalty.
3. The punishment also includes a ban on practicing the work related to food for a period not more than 180 days.
4. The penalty includes revocation of the issued license.
5. The publication of the final verdict on the case at the expense of the violator.
- The Public Prosecution is the body that undertakes the investigation and prosecution in case those acts are committed.
