Riyadh Mayoralty Has Started Sanitizing Streets During Partial Curfew

Riyadh Mayoralty has started carrying out cleaning and sterilization work of the main and subsidiary roads and streets in the city during the partial curfew period to avoid traffic jams, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported Friday.

The main goal is to provide a healthy and safe environment for the population, within the sphere of a number of precautionary measures to prevent any infection with the novel corononavirus (COVID-19.

About 44 street sweeping vehicles move on the roads of Riyadh city at a very low speed not exceeding 5 kph. They stop at traffic signals and intersections to intensify sanitization operation.

These works have been carried out on 12 roads during the past two days in different parts of Riyadh. The roads are: Prince Mishal Bin Abdulaziz, Al-Hassan Bin Ali, Abdulrahman Al-Ghafiqi, Abdullah Al-Naim, Ibn Taimiyah, Arabian Peninsula, Al-Suwaidi Main, Ahmed Bin Hanbal, Imam Turki Bin Abdullah, Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz (Al-Tahlia), King Abdulaziz, and Imam Faisal Bin Turki Bin Abdullah and a number of subsidiary streets in various districts.

Riyadh Mayoralty has also launched an initiative to sanitize Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). It is closely following the ATM cleaning and sterilization works to prevent them from contributing to spreading any novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. This is coinciding with the period for payment of salaries for the month of March.

Riyadh Mayoralty says it values the cooperation from Saudi banks with this initiative and their concern for the safety of ATM users in the capital city.

Besides cleaning and sanitization of ATMs and roads, the mayoralty is organizing daily inspection tours to ensure that firms are complying with the decisions on precautionary closure. It is also ensuring hygiene and environmental protection, and inspection of insecticide warehouses, allocating certain periods for shopping by elderly people and the disabled in big markets, and sanitizing the places mostly frequented by the population.
