The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted continued rainy conditions in Saudi Arabia until the end of April, affecting various regions across the kingdom.
Hussein Al-Qahtani, NCM spokesperson, highlighted that the ongoing spring season is characterized by persistent rains, particularly in the northern, eastern, and central regions of Saudi Arabia. He emphasized the prevalence of active winds during this season, which can stir up dust and contribute to the formation of rainy thunderstorm clouds. Additionally, normal winds are expected to sweep across different areas.
Al-Qahtani noted that temperatures in the coming days are expected to fluctuate, citing the example of the Manifa Center in the Khafji governorate, which recorded over 42 mm of rain within just 60 minutes.
In response to the challenging weather conditions, the Eastern Province Municipality, in coordination with the Traffic Department, has announced the temporary closure of tunnels on King Fahd Road in Dammam. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of motorists amidst the heavy rain and strong winds. The tunnels will be reopened once the weather stabilizes, according to the municipality.
