Tragedy struck Saudi Arabia as two separate road accidents left one child dead and 22 individuals injured on Tuesday.
The first collision occurred on a road connecting the Al Aridhah governorate and Al Khuba city in south-western Saudi Arabia, resulting in the loss of a child's life and leaving 10 others wounded.
Locals attribute the accident to the poor condition of the 30-kilometer one-way road, which has previously witnessed multiple fatal incidents. However, local authorities have yet to provide a clear explanation for the crash.
In the second accident, involving two buses carrying 47 passengers, 12 individuals sustained injuries. The incident occurred on a road linking the capital Riyadh and Taif in western Saudi Arabia. The injured were promptly transferred to a Taif hospital for treatment, with varying degrees of wounds reported.
Despite heightened efforts to reduce road accidents in recent months, Saudi Arabia has still experienced a series of unfortunate incidents, underscoring the ongoing challenges in road safety management.
In 2022 alone, 4,555 individuals lost their lives in traffic accidents, with 16,962 serious incidents recorded. While there has been a slight decrease compared to previous years, these statistics highlight the continued need for improved road safety measures and awareness campaigns.
